Speaker Policy


Speaker fees. Beta Nu Delta accepts pro bono speakers; we do not provide a fee or stipend or reimburse expenses except in unusual circumstances. If it is not explicitly acknowledged in writing to the speaker, Beta Nu Delta will not provide a fee or stipend or reimburse expenses.

Royalties and Expenses.Unless otherwise agreed to by the Beta Nu Delta, Speakers understand that they will not receive any royalties, honoraria, reimbursement of expenses, or other compensation from the Beta Nu Delta in connection with the program or the rights granted above.

Other compensation . Beta Nu Delta respects and values its member data and member/attendee information will not be shared with speakers in lieu of fee or stipend.

Non-Commercial Policy. It is Beta Nu Delta’s policy that its events are not to be used as a venue for marketing products, services, meetings, publications, or memberships except by authorized organizations that have purchased exhibit space or are formally acknowledged as sponsors of Beta Nu Delta. Speakers ARE permitted to sell their promotional materials (e.g. books or DVDs) at the end of the event at which they are speaking under the conditions laid out in the Speaker Agreement.

Programs and Events are the property of Beta Nu Delta. Advertising these programs and events is the sole responsibility of Beta Nu Delta. Reproduction of Beta Nu Delta marketing and advertisement materials for programs and events is not allowed without the express authorization, in writing, of a Beta Nu Delta Board member. Beta Nu Delta will uphold its non-Commercial policy. In cases where there is an opportunity to cross-promote, Beta Nu Delta reserves the right to review the promotional materials proposed by the other party and veto, in writing, for any reason. Should Beta Nu Delta veto a cross-promotion, the other party must remove all related materials from public view within a reasonable period of time. A reasonable period of time is defined as 3 business days.

Use of Likeness. Speakers authorize the Beta Nu Delta to use their name, likeness, photograph, and biographical data in connection with the use and promotion of Programs, Events, or Symposia.

Mutual Indemnification. Speakers indemnify and hold the Beta Nu Delta harmless from and against any and all claims, expenses (including reasonable attorney’s fees), and understand that they will not receive any royalties, honoraria, reimbursement of expenses, or other compensation from the Beta Nu Delta in connection with the program or the rights granted above, and liability whatsoever arising, directly or indirectly, out of their actions or inaction at, or participation in, the Conference (including but not limited to any injury or damage which Speaker may suffer as a result of my participation in the Conference). In turn, the Beta Nu Delta agrees to indemnify the Speaker and hold the Speaker harmless from any claims, demands, and expenses which result from the Speaker’s action, or failure to act, associated with this event.

Intellectual Property. Beta Nu Delta speakers attest that their presentations are their own original work, that Speakers’ presentations are therefore their Intellectual Property. Beta Nu Delta will not seek to represent those presentations as their own, except in the sense that presentations are the highlight of a Beta Nu Delta Program or Event. Speakers grant Beta Nu Delta a non-exclusive/royalty-free license to use, reproduce and/or distribute to program attendees, any and all presentations and handout materials that the speaker provides to supplement their presentation(s) unless otherwise agreed to in advance and in writing.

Cancellation or Date Change. Beta Nu Delta reserves the right to negotiate a new date or cancel at any time without penalty from the speaker. Speakers agree to notify Beta Nu Delta Programs immediately in the event that an emergency should prevent them from speaking at a Program or Event.

Promotional Material Sales (If applicable). Guest speakers of Beta Nu Delta are permitted to sell their promotional materials (e.g. books or DVDs) at the event he or she is speaking under the following conditions:

At least one (1) week prior to the program, the speaker must clearly communicate his or her intent to sell materials in writing to the VP of Programs or Speaker Liaison.

The speaker or their staff must handle all promotional materials. Beta Nu Delta is not responsible for any transportation, damage or loss of promotional items.

The speaker must run all set-up and sales of materials independently of Beta Nu Delta volunteers and staff. Beta Nu Delta staff and volunteers cannot assist in the handling or sale of speaker promotional materials.

Under these conditions, the Beta Nu Delta agrees to provide a designated space for sales of speaker promotional products. Other logistical arrangements such as a wireless are outside the purview of this agreement but may be available on a case-by-case basis. Not all venues are capable of providing phone or internet connectivity.
