Cagayan de Oro City, November 12 - After a gruelling first day of the 2nd National Nursing Research Conference at Marco Hotel, the guests and participants sighed a relief when many of them attended the cultural night extravaganza held at Liceo de Cagayan University's cultural mecca--the Rodelsa Hall. This is the best cultural venue of a number of world-class plays held in Mindanao in recent time.

Featuring the Liceans on Stage, the two (2) performing groups were the Basic Educatinoal Rondalla (almost all members were high school students) and the University Folkloric Group (which managed to get on time from a long travel and towering performance in Davao the other night).

So the cultural night was really an opportunity to celebrate our creativity and the talents and achievements of the Mindanao imagination according to Dean Chona Palomares of the Liceo's College of Nursing.

Prof. Maela Babate said the "cultural night gave us a wonderful opportunity to embrace our unique creativity as Mindanaons and thus, celebrate our talents and achievements before colleagues from Visayas and Luzon”.

In fact, the conference keynote speaker was awed by the performance. Dr. Cindy Leigh of Australia Catholic University remarked that "this is an imaginative way for people to enjoy our culture in all its diversity".

Dr. Erlinda Palaganas and Dr. Cora Anonuevo were right when they said that this event also has an important role to play in opening up arts and entertainment to new audiences like professional and student nurses
