1st BIMP International Nursing Conference A Success

Davao City, October 10 - Brokenshire College and San Pedro College ended the 3-day 1st BIMP International Nursing Conference with success. The event with the theme, “Viewing Nursing Education in BIMP through the Lens of People-Centered HealthCare Framework” drew a good participation (more than 300 persons including 30 Thais as well as some reps from Japan, Australia, US, China) at the grand ballroom of the Apo View Hotel.

The conference generated consensus among participating institutions of their role in the People – Centered HealthCare Framework and the Regional Strategy for Human Resources for Health (HRH) of the World Health Organization Western Pacific Region (WHO-WPR). Further, it enhanced relationships among schools of nursing, provided a venue for development of practitioners in nursing and for schools to be more responsive to community needs.

The conference was composed of plenary sessions, paper/poster presentations and open forum discussions.

Likewise, a pre-conference was held last October 7 which was followed by the main Conference on October 8-9, 2008. Today, an Educational and City tour is held.

Aside from giving paper and poster presentations, Dr. Rozzano Locsin, RN, PhD, FAAN had a book signing event courtesy of National Bookstore. Dr. Locsin is the pioneering honorary member of Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society Inc.

It is likely that the next conference will be held in Malaysia (in the beautiful Sabah state).
