Dr. Linell G. Malimbag Named Dr. Rose Constantino Visiting Nurse Scholar

In the last six days when almost all countries around the globe are celebrating the national nurses week and culminating it today -- May 12 -- with the birthday celebration of Florence Nightingale, Beta Nu Delta (BND) Nursing Society officially names its
maiden recipient of the Society's visiting nurse scholar project.

Dr. Linell G. Malimbag is awarded the Dr. Rose Constantino Visiting Nurse Scholarship.

Currently the Dean of the College of Nursing of the Davao Doctors College, Dr. Malimbag is considered to be one of the most formidable pillars of Philippine Nurses Association (PNA)-Davao chapter.

She was past president, HOD representative, HOD National Treasurer, past governor for Region XI, National PNA Corporate Secretary, and past Chairman of the Board of Governors, the highest position in the National PNA. She is presently a national director of the Association of Deans of the Philippine Colleges of Nursing.

It was significantly remembered that it was during Dr. Malimbag's term of office that RA 9173 (Nursing Law of 2002) was signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

"Dr. Malimbag's appointment is a significant achievement in the academic life of the Society", according to Prof. Jerome Babate, the BND national president. "The initial endowment created for this project is a very important initiative between an organization and a successful Filipino nurse. The outcome of it will be felt in a few years", he added.

Managed by the Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society, the Visiting Nurse Scholar Project makes available starting this year a distinguished scholar. The scholar who is a doctorally-prepared nurse visits colleges and universities, spending a day, meeting informally with students and faculty members, taking part in classroom discussions, and giving a public lecture open to the entire academic community.

The visits are designed primarily for undergraduate and graduate participation and maybe for the local nursing community.

The purpose of the program is to contribute to the intellectual life of the campus by making possible an exchange of ideas between the Visiting Nurse Scholar and the resident faculty and students.
