INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY Celebration: A Big bang Success!

General Santos City - The Florence Nightingale International Nurses Day Celebration held at NDDU was a big bang during the International Nurses Day that is celebrated around the world last May 12, 2007 with the theme, "Positive Practice Environment: Quality Work Places = Quality Patient Care".

With the total of 335 participants which composed of students and professionals brought the success of a whole day activity regarding violence in work places, symposium about Tuberculosis and a lot more. 233 total number from Notre Dame of Dadiangas University nursing students, 58 from others schools such as the GSDMSFI and Notre Dame of Midsayap College, and 47 professional Nurses took a part of the program.

This event was been indulged by different institutions and groups; The Notre Dame International Nursing Alumni Network, Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Philippine Nursing Students Association( PNSA), and Beta Nu Delta Nursing Society.

The activity gives a lot of benefits to the students who joined to witness it. There are symposiums held that gives a lot of information and more knowledge to them. The program speakers are Ms. Ethel Vere Laquihon who gives insights about the SMT project for TB and more about tuberculosis which was the highest ranking cause of death in the Philippines and Mr. Ian Mariano who discussed the kinds and types of violence particular to the areas where you are working.

Florence Nightingale - widely considered the founder of modern nursing. This program proved that a nurse was a symbol of devotion and sacrifice that needed to be emulated by others. Nursing, considered the noblest profession across the world and during these times, they remember their worth.
